There are two types of volunteer roles:

Facility Officials
Facility volunteers are the key to a "big event" experience for spectators, fans, and officials. These roles give a variety of opportunities to experience the full scope of a national championship environment. Easy to learn, lots to see, this is where you'll build the long term memories.
Facility volunteer shift lengths:
3 hours 15 minutes
Volunteer table
Provides information to volunteers on location, role etc. of shift.
Key tasks:

Provides box of iPod and shot clock to first scorer of the day. Returned at end of day by Announcer (see minor officials). Stored overnight with Arena Officials.

Provides room assignments to Greeter and Rink Coordinator.

Has book with description of roles and QR code for training videos.

Fill out forms for students for volunteer hours.​
Team Greeter
Provides information on dressing room and rinks at athlete’s entrance. Greeter should be very welcoming to the athletes, so they have the best experience possible.
Will have clip board with room assignments provided by volunteer desk.

Door monitors

Ensures all people have wrist bands

Ensure that the people have the right pass/bracelet for the designated area

Direct people

Ensure no alcohol in rinks or disruptive behaviour (Host Committee members will be close by at all times to respond)
Ticket sellers
Provides wrist bands to pre-pad ticket holders. Helps people buy tickets online or in person. Answers general questions

Volunteers should be tech comfortable, but Host Committee members will be close by at all times. Some shifts have 6:45am start time

50/50 ticket sales
Promotes sale of 50/50.
Done via a QR code and online. New for 2026 - tap to pay (training will be provided onsite; Host Committee members will be close by at all times)
Rink co-ordinator
One volunteer in charge of dressing room access per rink. Also in charge of Gatorade station.
1 per rink.​
Minor Officials
Roles are game-based
Be part of the action, interacting directly with major officials, spectators and athletes.
The games don't run without you! Easy to learn, fun to perform.

Minor officials shift lengths
1.5 to 2 hours - please arrive early
Game Clock/Timekeeper
Works the in-arena clock. Follows referre instructions as required (referees know how to adjust the clock if you get stuck). Prepare with this Training Video by CORA's Leah McWaters.
1 per rink/game
Announcer
Responsible to announce Teams playing, goals, penalties and general information as needed in French and English*. A script will be provided. Play music during the warm-up and between stoppages of play.
Will pick up equipment box (iPod and microphone from volunteer desk). Last person will return to volunteer desk at end of the day.​

Bilingual* (French and English) Music playlists and script for announcing to be provided.

*bilingualism is NOT a strict requirement for this role due to scripts; except for championship and select matches
Game Sheet / (RAMP) Scorekeeper
Responsible to record score penalties, time, and statistics on RAMP.
RAMP training hwill be provided by Ringette Canada (watch this page and socials for dates and times). RAMP personnel must also record when goalie changes happen.
1 per rink/game
Penalty Box
Open and close door for penalties.
Count shots on goal for a team (pen and paper) or leverage Hockey Shot Tracker (see bottom of page for app links). A sheet with the definition of a shot on goal will be in scorekeeping box. Information on shots may be provided by Ringette Canada during RAMP training
